Ethinyl Estradiol
Ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic form of the hormone estrogen, commonly used in combination with progestins as a component of various birth control pills (oral contraceptives). It mimics the action of natural estrogen in the body and helps prevent pregnancy primarily by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary).
Apart from contraception, ethinyl estradiol is also used in hormone replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
